You and your gut microbiome: Nutrition for health and wellbeing

Learn how tailored nutrition can support energy levels and overall well-being for those living with Parkinson’s Disease and multiple sclerosis.  In this session, we will explore the role of protein, the importance of the gut microbiome, a food first approach to support both you and your gut microbiome, and whether the latest dietary trends are right for you. 

Leigh is a New Zealand registered dietitian who graduated from Otago University in 2003. She specializes in providing nutrition support for individuals with IBS and food intolerances, as well as clinical nutrition services for older adults in residential care.Leigh has a passion for research and practices evidence-based nutrition. She completed her PhD in 2023, investigating chronic diarrhea in older adults, and has contributed to multiple studies exploring the effectiveness of the low FODMAP diet in improving quality of life for those with IBS.Based in Christchurch, Leigh works as a consultant dietitian for Canterbury Dietitians and Dietary Specialists. She enjoys helping individuals with functional gut disorders and supporting older adults in achieving optimal health through tailored nutrition strategies.
