Outward Bound are offering scholarships for their next Aspire course that cover 80% of the registration fee.
This is a specially adapted low-impact course for people aged 27+ who have a physical limitation; past participants include people with early onset MS, arthritis, joint replacements and back injuries.
Aspire is an 8-day course where you’ll get to try all sorts of new, fun activities in a safe and supportive environment, including: sailing, rock climbing, kayaking and high ropes.
Participants need to be able to take part in a full day of activities with rest breaks, comfortably walk a minimum of 2 km over uneven terrain and get up and down five flights of stairs. You will also need to be able to sit without back support, for example in a kayak, and be comfortable in and around the water.
The next Aspire course will be run from 13 – 20 September 2014 at Anakiwa, Queen Charlotte Sound.
Outward Bound are currently offering $1930 scholarships for this course; the closing date is 22 August. You can apply for these scholarships on their website.
