Group Exercise Instructor and Gym Supervisor

Join our dedicated MS and Parkinson’s  team at the newly built Braintree Wellness Centre, where we provide tailored health and wellbeing services for people with neurological conditions, specifically Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Parkinson’s. Our mission is to enable people to live well in their own communities; one way we enable this is through evidence-based exercise programmes.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Group Exercise Instructor & Gym Supervisor to lead group exercise classes and supervise gym sessions. This role is ideal for someone committed to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals with MS and Parkinson’s. Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Lead engaging and effective group exercise classes using MSPC designed content.
  • Supervise and support gym sessions, ensuring safety and proper use of equipment.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the gym, including cleaning touch points and maintaining a tidy environment.
  • Work collaboratively with our volunteers to assist clients in and out of the exercise area.

Ko wai koe | About You

  • Certified fitness instructor with experience in group exercise and gym instruction.
  • Comprehensive First Aid certificate is a must.
  • Background in rehabilitation or sports science is a plus.
  • Knowledge of neurological conditions (MS and Parkinson’s) is advantage but not required; we will provide training.
  • Working experience with seniors, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities is an advantage.

MSPC is a long-established charitable Trust with over 60 years of experience of working with people with MS and Parkinson’s and their whanau.  We offer tailored assessments, education and advocacy, peer support groups and social connection, and our extensive activation programmes especially designed for people with neurodegenerative conditions.   Join us in the new BrainTree Centre in Papanui, where we are part of a hub of organisations supporting people with neurological conditions.

  • Location: 70 Langdons Road, Papanui and Pioneer Recreation Centre, Somerfield
  • School friendly hours : Monday 9.30am – 1.00pm, Tuesday 9.30am – 11.45am, Wednesday 12.45pm – 3pm, Thursday 9.45 – 12pm, Friday 9.45am – 12pm
  • Contract rate $29 - $35 per hour
  • 12.5 hours per week - 11 client contact hours and 1.5 hours for preparation and notes. (15 mins per day + 15 mins)
